We’re proud to recognize Gary Polsgrove of United Real Estate Louisville, who was recently honored with the John R. Carpenter Service Award by the Greater Louisville Association of REALTORS® (GLAR). This meaningful award celebrates REALTORS^® who demonstrate outstanding commitment to service—both within the profession and throughout their communities. 

For Gary, service extends far beyond real estate. While real estate is his profession, his heart is deeply rooted in ministry and community outreach through Second Hope, an organization dedicated to supporting men and women who are incarcerated and helping them successfully transition back into society. 

This year’s initiative introduced an Amazon-based wish list system, making participation easier than ever. The response was overwhelming. Gifts arrived daily, wrap parties filled the office with energy and teamwork and Agents, staff and even third-party partners joined in to help.  

“My real estate business is my day job,” Gary shared, “but my heart is really ministry and impacting the men and women that we serve on a regular basis.” “When you’re incarcerated, most of society is done with you,” Gary explained. “Many times families are done too. But if you have just one or two people who stand beside you, it can completely change your life.” 

Through Second Hope, Gary and his team provide years of mentorship, job-readiness training, interview preparation, and continued support after release. The goal is not only reentry—but long-term stability and transformation. 

“If we can change one person,” Gary said, “we don’t just change that life. We change the trajectory of an entire family—sometimes for generations.” 

When asked what advice he would give to other Agents seeking to make a lasting impact, Gary reflected simply: “My dad always said the only real good we do in life is what we do for other people.”
