Through Hope Through Hollis, Shawnee Doherty is honoring her son's legacy by funding critical DIPG research and bringing hope to families in need.

Shawnee Doherty, agent at United Real Estate Specialists, is helping turn personal loss into a mission of hope through the 11th Annual Hope Through Hollis Golf Tournament & Social Event. As the driving force behind the Hope Through Hollis Foundation, Doherty has helped build a community-wide movement dedicated to funding critical research for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an aggressive and currently incurable pediatric brain cancer that claimed the life of her son, Hollis, in 2017. What began as one family's unimaginable loss has grown into a powerful effort to bring hope to children and families facing the same devastating diagnosis.

Some events are about more than gathering people together. They are about honoring a life, supporting a cause, and creating lasting impact.

The 11th Annual Hope Through Hollis Golf Tournament & Social Event is doing exactly that, bringing together supporters from across the community to help fund research for DIPG. The tournament serves as the largest annual fundraiser for the Hope Through Hollis Foundation, an organization established in honor of Hollis Doherty, who passed away in 2017 at the age of seven after a courageous battle with the disease.

What started as a family's mission to honor their son has grown into a movement fueled by generosity, compassion, and a shared determination to change the future for children facing this diagnosis. Through fundraising efforts, community support, and ongoing advocacy, the foundation helps advance pediatric brain cancer research while raising awareness about DIPG and the urgent need for new treatment options.

The annual golf tournament has become a signature event, consistently drawing golfers, sponsors, donors, and volunteers who believe in the foundation's mission. More than just a day on the course, the event is an opportunity for people to come together around a common purpose: giving families hope and helping researchers move closer to finding a cure.

This year's tournament will take place on September 27, 2026, at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona. Participants will enjoy a day of golf, fellowship, and fundraising while making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families affected by DIPG.

The story of Hope Through Hollis is a testament to the incredible impact that can grow from community support. By honoring Hollis' legacy, the foundation continues to inspire others to take action, contribute, and believe that a cure is possible.

For those looking to get involved, whether through sponsorship, participation, donations, or volunteering, every contribution helps move the mission forward. Together, supporters are helping ensure that hope lives on, not only for Hollis' family, but for countless families who continue to fight pediatric brain cancer.
